Starting Solids
Today Zhen and I decided Sophie would start on her solids. She is about 6 1/2 months old to this day and ever since she reached 3 months I've been given crap about her needing to start them soon. Even our pediatrician has been asking about starting them (although I have to say...she was not being pushy). It's odd how people think they know what they are talking about just because they raised kids of their own. The way things are done are constantly changing...in order for me to be a good mother (or anyone for that matter) I need to keep myself updated on the current research in the study of babies. What I've read so far have all told me to wait until 6/7 months. Truthfully speaking...I wanted to start feeding her as soon as she hold her head up. It's a fun thing to do I think. But I kept that urge suppressed so that my baby could have the best possible start that I know of.
Well now we finally fed her and boy was it cute! Sophie actually mourned the end of her meal. She usually only cries when she has to go to sleep but today she cried when I stopped feeding her. I think she takes after her dad in the constant need to sleep and me for the need to eat.
During the feeding she kept on lunging forward to get more of the spoon in her mouth and a few times even tried to "help" with her chubby little hands. Her first meal was rice cereal mixed w/ breast milk. I think she's been ready to start for a while. Hee hee. Poor girl. Well the following is a video we made of her earlier today while we were feeding her. I forgot to charge the camera before we started so we ended up only with two short videos and one picture. There is always tomorrow I guess.
